Derrick did it! he graduated Saturday and it was a beautiful and warm day! I could not have asked for a better weekend. Scott and I went up Friday evening and we met our friends Jamie and Bill and their son Micheal (who is also Derricks best friend since they were about seven) and Derrick and Katie at Bubba Gumps restaurant on Cannery Row in Monterey. It was so much fun! It was about 8:00 when we finally got up there so needless to say The kids had plans after and us older kids went back to the motel and went to bed! We headed over to the graduation at 8:30 the next morning to save seats for everyone. ( Dustin and Kelly drove from their place to Los Osos the night before then they came up with Matt and Melissa in the morning.) It was really warm and quite long. But it was so nice to see my baby graduate. We were very proud of him! After graduation we went into Monterey to have some lunch. Did some running around to change and stuff then we headed to the beach for our beach party! It was really cool and the food was really great. They set up this area with Palm trees and a hut and beach chairs, volleyball, bocce ball, music and a bon fire. I was worried before hand that it would be cold and foggy as it can be there this time of year! But not so this weekend! It was beautiful! I was very happy! We stayed till about 10:00 or so! Then again the kids went out and the old kids went back to the motel. Sunday morning Dustin and Kelly left after breakfast and we went over to Derrick's for a bit then we headed back into Monterey to walk around a bit and do the touristy thing and had lunch at this nice place right on the ocean as it was another lovely day! Then we had to head home! It was a great weekend for sure! Soon now Derrick will be heading for the San Jose area to work up there. He is continuing to work for the same company because they made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The bulk of thier stores though are up in that area so they needed him there. Luckily his buddy Micheal is working for the same company and they will be rooming together! So that is good! A whole new adventure for Derrick is about to begin!
