On Saturday Scott and I went to see Derrick in Monterey. Derrick had his 22nd birthday in October and this was the first chance we had to get up there and take him out to dinner. It was also the first time we got to see where he is living this semester. Since he is living in the old Fort Ord housing he has got a decent place. But then again he is living with 3 other guys. It is amazingly clean considering, although Derrick said he is the only one that does clean! Derrick wanted to go to Best Buy to check out some things so we drove to Salinas (yes that is the same place that the bad spinach came from) . While at Best Buy Scott and I and Derrick alll got web cams so now we can join the rest of the family in that too. Afterwards we walked around the mall there which is quite big! We don't have anything like that around here. Then we headed back to Monterey Bay and took a walk on the peir at the fishermans warf. All these resturants were outside handing out samples of thier clam chowders.MMMMMM good. It was some of the best I ever tasted. Then for his birthday dinner we went to a really cool Japanese place right on fishermans wharf. I have never been at a place like that and we had great fun! Our cook was very nice and it is fascinating to watch them at work. After dinner they brought Derrick a dessert and got this big drum and sang happy birthday. They take a picture and give it to him along with a set of chop sticks and stands in a box. It was pretty cool. After dinner Derrick wanted to go see the girls senior night volleyball game against Chico. It was a fun night and I love being with Derrick. He is such a great guy and I miss him terribly all the time!
